What is an IRT?
The IRT is to provide
leadership to classroom teachers at the elementary school level in the
implementation of curriculum and instructional techniques in support of the
WCPSS Board Goal and to improve educational programs and services to students.
What are the responsibilities of the IRT?

Connect the NC
Elementary Standard Course of Study with Douglas and its staff by maintaining
knowledge of current curriculum and instructional issues, attend meetings with
the staff of WCPSS Curriculum and Instruction staff, coordinate instructional
resources to enhance students learning, and provide communication regarding
instructional programs with parents, students, and staff.

Support the
classroom teacher by providing coaching in curriculum implementation and best
instructional practices, maintain on-going assistance in problem solving,
planning, and curriculum and instructional innovations, model effective use of
K-5 assessments, assist staff in analyzing and interpreting test data for
instructional planning, assist in implementation of strategies developed for at
risk students, model use of technology as an instructional tool, coordinate and
assist in implementation of school improvement strategies

Coordinate and
conduct staff development in support of the Board Goal by coordinating and
conducting school-level staff development activities.
