1st Grade Dance Informance

What do stories and dances have in common?  Beginning, middle and end!  Each first grade class is using a book as inspiration to choreograph a dance.  Just like the books, their dances must have a beginning, middle and end.  Each book was chosen for its connection to the 1st grade science or social studies curriculum.  Come see 1st grade creativity in action as they dance the stories on Tuesday, June 3rd, at 2:45 pm in the gym.

“Books Come Alive” Informance

We would like to say Thank You to our after-school students that participated in the second annual "Books Come Alive" informance. They did a great job with their costumes, their lines and their performances!  With the help from two of Sanderson's finest, Justin Crawford and Jeremy Walden, they made their books come alive!  We also would like to thank our parents for all their continued support in our after-school programs. Have a great summer!

A letter from our Principal:

Dear Wonderful Douglas Parents,

Thank you for your support both in volunteer time and participation in special events and projects. Because of your time and efforts in working with our staff, you have helped make this year a successful year for our children J!

As you know, our Douglas School Community as well as our magnet program, have continued to grow. This growth requires more time, effort, and resources from everyone. This year with the rapid growth we experienced, you, our parents, met this challenge for providing additional efforts with your tremendous commitment of time, support, and resources. What a big difference your extra efforts made in being sure the staff could provide opportunities for all children to participate in all the fun, educational experiences such as field trips, cultural arts events, and special grade level and class activities!

Thank you for making Douglas such a great place for all students! We wish you all the best and hope that you have a wonderful and safe summer breakJ.

Gratefully yours,

Dr. Susan Spivey, Principal

Ms. Claudia Bazemore, Assistant Principal
