THANK YOU!!

Thank all of you so much for your support of Jump Rope for Heart. Our families raised $3,597.77 this year. I am so proud and thankful for the support in this fundraiser. Maya L. was our top fundraiser with $505, along with Desiree J ($211), Sydney K. (164.50), Keyon Al. ($195), and Hannah R. ($150). Our prizes take about 4 weeks to arrive and should be here by the middle of April. I will hand those out in PE class just as soon as they arrive. Thanks again for your support!   Kim Hamilton

THANK YOU!!

Thanks to all of the parents who volunteered their time and energy during our Pirate Field Days last week!  A special thank you to Tammy Clarke who organized our parent volunteers.

Looking Ahead...

National Teacher Appreciation Week

 May 5 - 9, 2008

The Douglas community will be participating in the National Teacher Appreciation week by honoring our teachers and staff members.

Two of the ways we plan to show appreciation are:

1.  Staff Raffle!  The PTA will hold a raffle this week and every staff member will be entered to win fun and fantastic prizes such as restaurant gift cards, coffee shop gift cards, baked goods, books, post-it notes, etc.

2.  All Staff Luncheon to take place on Friday, May 9th.

Of course, in order to make these events happen, your help is needed!  If you have great ideas about  how to honor our teachers and staff during this week and/or if you are able to help some of our activities take place during this week, please contact Laura Oliver, the PTA Chair of Teacher Appreciation Week:  779-9655 or olive017@mc.duke.edu

If you would like to donate something for the raffle, you may send in your item any time prior to May 5th.  Please mark the item "Attn. PTA, for Staff Raffle" and bring it to the front office or send it in with your child.

If you would like to help with the luncheon by providing a food or drink item or by helping to set-up, serve or clean-up on Friday, May 9th, please contact Alice Spickard 877-0490 or alicespickard@yahoo.com
