WCPSS Reassignment Plan:

PROPOSED CHANGES FOR DOUGLAS!

Wake County Public School System has released a proposed reassignment plan for next year.  Douglas is listed in this plan as WCPSS has proposed removing three Douglas nodes and redirecting the students who live in these three nodes to Green Year Round.  The nodes which will be changed are 038.0, 031.0 and 271.0.  If your child will be entering the 4th or 5th grade only, you may choose to be "grandfathered" in and remain at Douglas to finish out elementary school at Doulgas IF you make this request.

To find out if you are  affected by the proposed reassignment plan, please go to:  http://www.wcpss.net/assignment-proposal/

You can look up your node by typing in your address, and the system will tell you your node.

Please keep in mind that this plan is not yet official.  WCPSS is soliciting feedback from the community on this proposed plan only through Jan. 1, 2008.  Please send your comments to WCPSS in the next couple of weeks.  You may provide feedback online, in writing, or by phone call.  Contact information is located at the wcpss site (address above).

The PTA also values your feedback!  We would love to gather your thoughts and opinions on this plan.  Please forward your feedback to Alice Spickard, PTA President:  alicespickard@yahoo.com , and/or Gil Greggs, PTA Legislative Chair:  ggreggs@sdsw.org

Reflections Reception

Every child who entered the Reflections contest will be honored at a PTA reception on Tuesday, January 8, at 6:30 PM in the Media Center.  Please plan to come and join us that evening as we celebrate our artists.  Also, the names of the 21 finalists, who will go on to compete at the County level, will be announced.

Families that are involved with Reflections are asked to bring finger foods and snacks for the event. If you are interested in helping, please contact Tammy Clarke at 250-0146 or 637-3015 to let her know what you will be bringing.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored a child by providing a holiday gift!  Our red paper mittens disappeared from the bulletin board and we were able to take care of around 80 children this holiday season!
