Media Center News
November is National Family Literacy Month, and November 13-17 is Children's Book Week.
Celebrate by reading a book with your child, sharing your favorite book with them or going to the library together!
Do you have old alphabet or number blocks? If so, and you don't need them anymore, the Media Center has a use for them. Please drop them off in the Media Center. Thanks!
Cozy Up With A Good Book
Douglas students will be reading to help make quilts for Project Linus. A flyer will be going home in
Monday folders with details. For every so many books or pages a child reads, they will earn a quilt square. Once a class has collected enough quilt squares to make a quilt, it will be made into a quilt and given to Project Linus. Project Linus is a program that provides blankets and quilts to children who are ill. Support us in helping our students read and create warmth for the community. Reading for this project will start November 13 and last through January 31, 2007. We will have a "sew-in" during the first week of February. More information to come . . .
Donations needed: For our Cozy Up With A Good Book program - We need 4 1/2 inch fabric squares. They should be child appropriate colors and/or
patterns. You may donate material or buy the squares already cut from most fabric stores. Or, if you are handy with sewing or quilting, we could use you to help rotary cut material into squares, and later on in February for our "sew-in."
