Student Reassignment Plan:  Are you being moved?

Wake County Public School System has released a student reassignment plan for next year.  3 Douglas nodes (areas where Douglas students live) are slated to be moved to Green Year Round Elementary School.  This means that approximately 47 students who now attend Douglas will be reassigned to attend Green next year.  (Currently WCPSS must provide an "opt out" school should these families not want to attend a year round calendar school.  The traditional calendar "opt out" school for the families in these 3 nodes will be Lynn Road.)

Please consult the list below to find out if your street has been affected by the student reassignment process.  If you find that your family is being moved to Green Year Round and you have questions about the student reassignment process, how to respond to WCPSS, or questions about what options you may have for next year, please contact Gil Greggs, PTA Legislative Chair, 782-7801, or Alice Spickard, PTA President, 877-0490.

HATS OFF TO YOU!

PROJECT MITTENS – THANKS!

A personal thank you from the Project Mittens team to all those who helped shop, donated money or took a mitten (or two) off the board in December. We are so proud to have such a group of parents and staff - together you all provided for almost 100 children who needed something during this holiday season. The children who benefited from this effort remind us that giving truly can be better than receiving.  Special thanks to Susan Steltenpohl and Kelli Williams who led this effort!

BOXTOPS COLLECTION – KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Thanks to everyone who clipped Box Tops!

So far we have raised over $557 for Douglas! Keep saving those Box Tops (General Mills, Kleenex, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Huggies, etc)  Our next contest is starting soon!  Before the holidays, Ms. Horner’s class celebrated with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!

REFLECTIONS THANK YOU

Thank you to Claudia Dickson, chair of our Reflections Arts Program this year.  Claudia worked tirelessly to spread the word about Reflections, prepare artwork for official entry into the contest, and bring judges in from our community to evaluate our students' work.  Thanks, also, to Tammy Clarke and Joanne Barlow for organizing a fabulous reception during our PTA meeting and Reflections Awards Night last week!  Hats off to these awesome volunteers!
